Sanctuary Life
There is rarely a dull moment at Steven's Animal Sanctuary. Here you will find updates on resident shenanigans, the projects we are working on and all that is involved in running the sanctuary.

Thank you to Ben, our light-installer!
Ben got us lights that could be adjusted for bright light and dim light. Evening barn chores will be so much better!

Let there be light!
We are so thankful for new, safe bright lights in the barn! It makes dreary winter evenings a bit more bearable.

Barn-Access Reconfiguration
Dr. Heather and CC starting the barn-access project. We are reconfiguring the fencing to allow for easier access for hay delivery, grain drop-off and farrier work. Once finished we will be able to drive right to the barn without all the "helpers" getting the way and escaping to the front yard.

Leveling
We need to level the ground to prepare for the permanent fence.

So much leveling!

Measuring Fence
Ben is measuring temporary fencing to keep the residents safely in the pasture while we work on the project.

Always feed buckets to wash!

Rowdy's Arrival
Quite underweight. He was about 900lbs when he arrived

Eye Infections
Rowdy has significant allergies that were left largely untreated for quite a while which developed into an infection, swelling and hair loss. He was put on antibiotics and daily eye ointment and his infection improved quickly.

Rowdy's "after" pic
While he will always have a bit of "guy-liner" Rowdy is so much more comfortable. No more itchy, ouchy eyes. His infection is healed, he gets daily allergy meds and eye ointment every few days.

Walks with Rowdy
Part of his rehab was going for walks around the neighborhood to build up his strength.

Crazy Hair Day!
Seamus always has the best hairdos.

Hiding
Ciara (Keira) was rather smitten by Leroy when she first arrived. Poor Leroy took to hiding and placing objects between them so he could get a bit of peace.

Downed Fence
After every windstorm we have to walk the perimeter to make sure the fences made it through without damage. Unfortunately, we often need to repair a fence or two after each storm.

Shavings tester
Luigi is the official shavings tester, often not even waiting until they are spread out before plopping himself down.

Happy Holidays!
